The hyped American queer rap phenomenon Mykki Blanco has moved cameleonously between hip-hop, trap and experimental pop since his breakthrough in the early 2010s. After countless hit releases and collaborations with huge stars like Madonna, Björk and Kanye West, he's back with a new album this fall. In this context, he hosts ALICE with a hilarious and unforgettable live show.
American rapper, performance artist and LGBTQ+ activist Mykki Blanco has consistently challenged expectations since he burst through on the international stage in 2012 with the hit “Wavvy.” Today, Mykki Blanco is a marked frontrunner in hip-hop, who has consistently refused to let himself be constrained by genres. Over the past decade, he has built a catalog that moves effortlessly between hip-hop, electronic music, trap, experimental pop and more, while forging a unique, norm-breaking path in a genre that has historically been closely associated with misogyny, homophobia and transphobia.
Through various projects and collaborations, Mykki Blanco has also made a significant mark on the media and pop culture — including as the protagonist in the music video for Madonna's “Dark Ballet” (2019), with the art film collaboration “No Leash” with Cody Critcheloe for Shayne Oliver's Hood By Air brand, through collaborations with stars such as Kanye West, Devendra Banhart, Amnesia Scanner and Charli XCX, as well as tours with Björk, Major Lazer and Death Grips. With the upcoming album “CAFE PARADISO,” co-created with longtime collaborator Drew “FaltyDL” Lustman, Mykki Blanco embarks on a new chapter with a more intimate and cosmopolitan vision and a sound that evokes memories of Prince and Connan Mockasin. Expect an unforgettable, multifaceted live show when Mykki Blanco gives a concert at ALICE this fall with new material.
