“God is dead,” said Friedrich Nietzsche. We will begin the next season of the Syllable with a discussion of this groundbreaking — for some liberating, for others frightening — idea of the great philosopher. Is it about decreeing atheism, or rather diagnosing a crisis of institutions and religious imagination? Asking about the formula of spirituality possible for modern man, we will look at Nietzsche's critique of Christianity. And also how he saw the connections of the Christian tradition with the disturbing phenomena of the modern world, such as the decline of high culture and the development of mass society with its narcissism and spiritual deadness.
