Take the temperature of today's youth and discover one of the most evocative, funny and rocky debut novels of the year!

About the event

How can one feel lonely when surrounded by friends? Where does one find meaning when the world seems meaningless? And why do men keep being bad at putting into words feelings and being able to accommodate each other's?

These are the very big questions that Frederik Drescher Kluth revolves around in his debut novel 'Meanwhile We Are Noone'. But he orbits in the most rocky, funny and down-to-earth way!

The novel follows a young man trying to find his way in an adolescent life where pizzas, weed and YouTube probably fill everything on the surface. But beneath it smolder the doubts, vulnerabilities and confused thoughts about friendships, love and what it means to be a man and, on the whole, to be for.

Experience Frederik Drescher Kluth's work on the novel, about writing about masculinity and vulnerability and about debuting with a book that dares with both humor and seriousness about how it feels when you are most alone and when you long to dream and belong.

On the occasion of the festival Don't Fear the Weird and in collaboration with PsykInfo, the Main Library invites you to a conversation that warms up to the festival's investigations into the psychic, the different, and what we often find difficult to talk about.

It's free, informal and for anyone with a penchant for literature. One does not need to have read the book to get something out of the arrangement. We're talking about it in a way that hopefully makes you want to read it if you haven't gotten around to it yet. And if you have already read it, hopefully the conversation will give you new perspectives on or new understanding of it.

About Debut of the MonthEvery month, the Main Library invites a current debuting author to the stage on the same terms that established writers so often become. Here they talk about what they write, how they write and why they write. We give the debutants the floor because they help move literature and thus our understanding of what literature is and can be.
