“On roads that are not there” — meeting with Luiza Pasieka

There are trips that start with a plane ticket and a carefully planned route. There are also those that start with a backpack, a thumb outstretched and the question: “Then where are we going?”

On 17 October at 18:00 we invite you to the Kinoteatr in Zawadzki for a unique travel lecture by Luiza Pasieka — a traveler from Zawadzki and a lover of hitchhiking adventures.

Luiza began her adventure with travel when she was a teenager. With little baggage and great determination, she set out from Zawadzki into the world. She hitchhiked, among others, to the Arctic Circle, crossing Norway, Finland and Sweden. Along the way, there were unusual meetings, unforeseen situations and even... a Swedish arrest.

Then came the time for Africa and the Sahara. Luiza traveled through Europe and Morocco, hitchhiking, and on her way to the Black Continent, after several days of waiting, she managed to find a place on a yacht sailing from Spain towards Morocco. Life on board, people she meets by chance, and miles on the road — these are the stories that make her journeys more than just moving from A to B.

During the October meeting, however, Luiza will take us much further — to the mountains of Kyrgyzstan and the Pamirs. It will be about hitchhiking, roads that are sometimes difficult to find on the map, meetings with locals, unusual landscapes, yurts, high mountains and what can be found when a person decides to go off the beaten path.

“ON ROADS THAT ARE NOT THERE” is a story about a journey in which it is not always known what will happen behind the next bend. And I think that's why it's worth embarking on it.
