“On the Knife Blade” is a story about people working in a restaurant kitchen — a place where daily chores turn into a brutal system of dependencies, hierarchies and tensions. The screenplay by Joanna Kowalska, inspired by Arnold Wesker's drama The Kitchen, sets the action in a contemporary reality in which the kitchen becomes the lens of social relations.
We will see a world of sharp divisions: between those who give orders and those who carry them out. In constant tension, romances and betrayals, alliances and conflicts, dreams of another life and a feeling of being stuck with no way out are born.
Directed by Piotr Ratajczak, the play is about love and hunger — not only food, but also closeness, meaning and agency. A real, professional kitchen will appear on the stage, where the protagonists will not only prepare dishes, but also face pressure, hierarchy and the limits of their own endurance.
A show for viewers from the age of 16.
