{Live} — Maciej Zdanowicz

How are experiences recorded in the body? How can art become a tool for working with memory, trauma, violence and recovery?

On 28 October at 18:00 we invite you to the CSW Laboratory for a meeting with Maciej Zdanowicz as part of the series {Live}.

Maciej Zdanowicz — intermediate artist, art researcher and art therapist. A graduate of the Władysław Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Doctor of Fine Arts. Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Art of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, where he deals with intermedia, art theory, art therapy and socio-cultural applications of art and design. He heads the Somaesthetic Art Therapy Section of the Polish Art Therapeutic Society Foundation; he is a member of the Polish Section of AICA, InSea and The Society for Somaesthetics.

In her practice, she focuses on embodied experience and how memory, crisis and violence are inscribed in body, image, matter and space. He is particularly interested in the processes of change, absences, resilience and relationships with the environment in the context of contemporary social tensions and war. Since 2024, he has been developing intensive artistic and research cooperation in Ukraine, especially in Kiev, Dnieper and Zaporozhye, exploring the relationship between art, the experience of war, the body and the sense of agency.

During the meeting {Live} we will talk about his artistic and scientific research activities, about the embodied experience of war, as well as about the possibilities that art creates for building resilience, recovering agency and creating new forms of relationship with the environment.

Every week we meet live with artists, artists, artistic people to talk about art: creative processes, works, current experiences. Some people will appear for the first time, others have already been to the Center for Contemporary Art. In this series we want to focus attention on individual artistic attitudes and practices.
