“Naked” by Mike Leigh is a bitter, violent portrait of a man in constant conflict with the world and himself, in which there is no shortage of black humor. David Thewlis creates a character that is both repulsive and fascinating — intelligent, cynical and painfully lonely.

About the event

Cinema Discomfort is a new film series of Kinoteka dedicated to films that cross the boundaries of the emotional and psychological comfort of the viewer.

These are strong, bold and intense images that offer no easy distance or simple answers. They confront violence, trauma, alienation, loneliness or moral ambiguity, leaving anxiety, ambivalence and emotions that are difficult to sort out after the session.

The series is not based on the genre, but on the experience of the viewer. It undermines classical catharsis and offers no easy solution. It is a cinema that is worth seeing right in the cinema hall — on the big screen, in focus and without a safe distance.

FILM DESCRIPTION:

Johnny leaves Manchester and ends up in London, where he wanders the streets aimlessly at night, getting into random conversations and encounters with strangers. His journey takes him through a world full of loneliness, frustration and violence, in which it is difficult to find a place for himself.

“Naked” by Mike Leigh is a bitter, violent portrait of a man in constant conflict with the world and himself, in which there is no shortage of black humor. David Thewlis creates a character that is both repulsive and fascinating — intelligent, cynical and painfully lonely.
