Krzysztof Klenczon (14 January 1942 — 7 April 1981) — Polish composer, vocalist and guitarist, who, among others, as the leader of the bands Czerwone Gitary and Trzy Korony, created the foundations of Polish bigbit and rock. His childhood was marked by the trauma associated with the post-war hiding of his father, a soldier of the National Army, from the Security Office, but he also grew up - in the spirit of love for his homeland. After graduating from high school in Szczytno, Klenczon studied briefly at the department of road and bridge construction at the Gdańsk University of Technology, and finally completed the Physical Education Study in Gdańsk. He was a musical self-taught, did not read sheet music. From an early age, however, he practiced playing the guitar and was involved in the work of various bands. He was recognized by an award at the Festival of Young Talents in Szczecin in 1962. From 1963 he was the guitarist of the band Niebiesko-Czarni, in which he performed with, among others, Czesław Niemen and Wojciech Korda. With this formation, he toured at Olympia in Paris, which was for him a life experience and an impetus for further actions and changes. The next stage was the group Five, which turned into Red Guitars. Cooperation with Red Guitars (1965-70) brought Klenczon enormous popularity (songs “History of one acquaintance”, “White Cross”), but not wanting to act in the shadow of even Seweryn Krajewski, and above all to realize his artistic visions, he founded his own band — Trzy Korony (1970-72). It was then that Klenczon's unforgettable hits were created - “10 on the Beaufort scale”, “We will not go into history”, “Tell me, old man, somewhere you were”. In the early 1970s, the artist emigrated to the United States. He recorded two albums there (at that time the song “Natalie — a more beautiful world” was written dedicated to his daughter), but was not successful. He also played concerts for Polonia and was involved in matters related to Poland, with “Solidarność”. He died as a result of a car accident. The urn with his ashes rested in the family grave in the cemetery in Szczytno. Krzysztof Klenczon had a talent for writing simple, melodic, deeply memorable compositions, but he followed the novelties of the world, he was fascinated by new sounds. He was a rebellious artist, did not succumb to fashions. In his compositions, he combined different moods and styles, wrote lyrical ballads, but also rebellious protest-songas. He was called a “rebellious angel”, but he was also called “Polish Lennon” because of his charismatic image, characteristic guitar compositions and rebellious nature.
