A new 4K restored version of one of the greatest masterpieces of Spanish cinema on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its premiere.
Feed the Ravens is as fleeting as it is disturbing the story of 8-year-old Anna (the unforgettable Ana Torrent), who faces emotions one summer with her beloved mother (the hypnotic Geraldine Chaplin). Dressed in a red turtleneck, the girl lives in a big house with her two sisters, an aunt and a grandmother — in a world full of incredible objects and tightly fenced off from reality.
Fusing children's imagination with local history, the film is both a poignant portrait of childhood and a diagnosis of a nation that has been under the dictatorship of General Franco for years. At the end of 50 years, the masterpiece of master Carlos Saura is full of fairy tales — not only for its enduring charm, but also for its mystery and gloom. Bathed in a green glow that foreshadows the autumn aura, Feed the Ravens evokes associations with another story about memory, memories and the power of children's imagination — Céline Sciamma's Little Mom.
The restored 4K version was made in 2026 and shown for the first time in the Cannes Classics section at this year's Cannes Festival.
