About the event

Natalie Duncan brings her distinctive blend of jazz, soul, R&B, hip-hop and singer-songwriter influences to PizzaExpress Live, performing primarily from her critically acclaimed third album, Black Moon, alongside choice covers.

Joining Natalie are Alan Mian and Dave “Big D” Browning, her core band and co-producers of Black Moon, alongside Charlie Allen on guitar. Expect an eclectic set combining intimate songwriting with groove, improvisation, adventurous piano and synth work, and powerful vocals.

Released independently in March 2026, Black Moon has received critical acclaim and Jazz FM airplay. Natalie also performs internationally as a lead vocalist with legendary jazz-funk band Incognito.

Nottingham-raised singer, songwriter and keys player Natalie Duncan first came to wider attention following her appearance in the BBC series Goldie’s Band: By Royal Appointment. She subsequently signed to Decca Records, releasing her debut album Devil in Me in 2012 to considerable acclaim, with The Guardian declaring, “An incandescent star is born.” An appearance on Later… with Jools Holland followed, alongside touring in Japan and supporting Muse.

Natalie released her second album Free in 2020 on Goldie’s Fallen Tree 1Hundred label, becoming the first album released by the label. The record received critical acclaim from publications including MOJO and Blues & Soul, while Echoes and Bandcamp named Free their album of the month and Jazz FM awarded it Record of the Week. Natalie launched the album with an intimate live recording from Ronnie Scott’s, followed by a headline show at London’s Jazz Café.

In 2023, Natalie joined legendary jazz-funk band Incognito as a lead vocalist, touring extensively across Europe and the Far East alongside vocalists including Tony Momrelle, Joy Rose, Vanessa Haynes, Imaani and Cherri V. Her relationship with the band has also developed as a songwriter and musician: Natalie has co-written and played keys across two Incognito albums.

In March 2026, Natalie released her third album, Black Moon. A fully independent endeavour, the record was created with her trio, Dave “Big D” Browning and Alan Mian, who co-produced the album alongside Natalie. Black Moon has received strong critical acclaim and airplay on Jazz FM, marking a new chapter in Natalie’s work as an independent artist, songwriter, producer and musician.

Natalie has headlined Ronnie Scott’s three times, with sold-out shows in 2021, 2022 and 2025. In 2026, she will also perform two shows as part of the London Jazz Festival.

Her wider writing and performance collaborations include Goldie and James Davidson’s Subjective project, Mica Paris, Richard Spaven, Guy Chambers, Kat Eaton, Liam Howe (Sneaker Pimps) and Disclosure.
