Camila Nebbia / saxophone Kit Downes / piano Andrew Lisle / drums
The improvising trio Exhaust unites saxophonist Camila Nebbia, pianist Kit Downes, and drummer Andrew Lisle in a dynamic meeting of spontaneous creation. Their music unfolds through real-time exploration, where quick reflexes and deep listening shape each performance. Nebbia’s powerful saxophone voice drives the ensemble with intensity, while Downes reveals a side of his playing that leans into raw immediacy and unrestrained expression. Lisle acts as both a catalyst and anchor, crafting fluid rhythmic structures that support and propel the trio’s intricate interplay.
This will be a release show for the trio's new album, All the Beauties and Disasters, out on Intakt Records on 23rd October. The album moves through a vast spectrum of sound, shifting between melodic counterpoint and richly textured soundscapes, embracing contrast and constant transformation.
“One of the most striking aspects of the trio’s sound is their careful articulation, the equitable distribution of roles in building a collective soundscape, and the way they explore the potential of their instruments together — a shared modus operandi. Exhaust is a strange, magnetic, and beautiful album — far more than just an escape from the darkness of our times. “ – Antonio Branco, Jazz PT
