Concert reading with Ludwig Blochberger based on Navid Kermani

About the event

The songs by Neil Young form the heart of this concert reading — played live and sung by Ludwig Blochberger. Navid Kermani's story about a young family whose newborn daughter only falls asleep with Neil Young's music unfolds a musical-literary evening about memory, lost illusions, moments of happiness and the big questions of life.

In a carefully abridged version, the actor combines Kermani's lyrics with songs that are much more than musical interludes: They take up motifs, carry on moods and give the story its own movement. The result is not a song recital with reading passages, but a close interplay of literature and concert — personal, concentrated and with great musical presence.

“Above all, the former Vienna Boys' Choir has the right feeling for the music, and so the concept works brilliantly.”
Abendzeitung Munich, 14.11.2024

“If you spend Saturday evening laughing, singing, brooding and with goosebumps, it's a good evening.”
Theater Görlitz, February 03, 2024

“When you closed your eyes, you almost thought you could hear the master singing and playing in person.”
Theaterhaus Stuttgart, February 09, 2024

Ludwig Blochberger, born in 1982 in East Berlin, came into contact with classical music at an early age as a Vienna Boys' Choir. Even as a teenager, he was on stage at the Vienna Burgtheater under the direction of Claus Peymann and played in the three-part television series “Die Manns” alongside Armin Müller-Stahl. While studying at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, he appeared in films such as “Sommersturm”, “Der letzte Zug” and the Oscar-winning “The Lives of Others.” This was followed by numerous distinctive roles in film and television, including Wernher von Braun, Sebastian Haffner, Helmut Schmidt, Pope Innocent III and Rudolf Höß. In “Kommissar Dupin” he was seen as Riwal, in “Der Alte” as Kommissar Tom Kupfer. In November 2025, his latest in-house production “Manfred Krug — Abgehauen” premiered at the Renaissance Theatre.
