This time, together with the NFM Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra, the Swensen brothers — sons of the long-time musical director of this band — will perform. The soloist will be Jonathan, while Nicholas will lead the musicians from behind the conductor's desk. We are waiting for a meeting with an evocative, varied program, which consists of compositions by the creators of the largest format: Luigi Boccherini, Pēteris Vasks, Kaija Saariaho and Giovanni Sollima.

About the event

This time, together with the NFM Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra, the Swensen brothers — sons of the long-time musical director of this band — will perform. The soloist will be Jonathan, while Nicholas will lead the musicians from behind the conductor's desk. We are waiting for a meeting with an evocative, varied program, which consists of compositions by the creators of the largest format: Luigi Boccherini, Pēteris Vasks, Kaija Saariaho and Giovanni Sollima.

Luigi Boccherini — an outstanding cellist from Tuscany's Lucca — worked primarily in the Enlightenment Kingdom of Spain. We know more than a dozen concerts by him, dedicated to this particular instrument, some of which were released during the artist's lifetime in Paris. It is to this group that the graceful Concerto in G major belongs. The stylish piece is known primarily for its full affect, reflective center link. The second composition of this type, entitled Virtne (Latin for 'presence'), was created in modern times. In the work of Vasks, recorded by Sol Gabetta, which is part of the current of post-romanticism, you can immerse yourself as in a stream of original feelings. It was created between 2011 and 2012 and can be considered as a path to the roots.

Reflection of water lilies in turn is an unusual composition by Finnish spectralist Kaiji Saariaho. The string orchestra conjures up in it a handful of sound images with fuzzy, albeit paradoxically carefully delineated, incredible contours. The last of them uses — only as a sound effect — the poem by Arseniy Tarkovsky It's already been summer... The work of the artist, who died a few years ago, dates back to 2001. The evening will end with one of the works of the charismatic Sicilian cello virtuoso Giovanni Sollima. The concert with the mysterious title Fecit Neap. 17 (this number indicates the year of completion of the creative process) refers to the musical style characteristic of the center of the Neapolitan era of the mature Baroque era. Despite this, it is a truly modern firework, a vehicle of vital temperament, for which the south of Italy is famous.
