Hear Torkil Sørensen tell about Danish author Martin Andersen Nexø.

About the event

About the lecture:Martin Andersen Nexø was on a four-month stay in Munich in the winter of 1917-1918, where he met artists and political activists who in the following year became engaged in the short-lived left-wing republic in the southern German city.

Nexø himself soon became active on the new Danish left wing until 1923. He then moved to Germany and gradually approached the Social Democratic Party again. In 1930 he returned to Denmark, but at the beginning of 1933 he was through what is now Nazi Germany on his way home from Italy. He now committed himself strongly to German refugees - predominantly communists. In 1936 he became chairman of the Red Help in Denmark and in 1937 a member of the DKP. During the Occupation, he fled first to Sweden and then to the Soviet Union. After the war, he settled the last years of his life in Dresden in the GDR, where he revisited German communists who had been in exile in Denmark.

The practical lecture is hosted by the Martin Andersen Nexø company.

Tickets are free for members of the Martin Andersen Nexø Society. Other DKK 50, -, payable at the entrance.
