NHEF: 199 Little Heroes

“199 Little Heroes” is a series of eight minute-long films, the protagonists of which are children. This, Jaffer, Annalena, Sanjana, Anich, Zacheo, Alphonsine and Viktor are the eponymous little heroes who take the viewer on a journey across three continents - Asia, Africa and Europe. The theme of travel is very important in their case, because we accompany everyone on the way to school. For most of them, it is a daily, overtime trip through the desert, bush or slums. At this time, they tell the viewer about their life, dreams and plans for the future. They also share surprisingly mature reflections on their immediate surroundings, nature, social problems. They prove that even a ten-year-old can behave responsibly and set goals for himself, thanks to which the world around will become better. Their dream is to become a policeman, a nurse, a Bollywood star. They want an end to terrorism or universal concern for wild animals. All these thoughts arise in their heads just at the time of the hike to school. They are an expression of observation and at the same time a very critical, although not devoid of optimism, view of the world.
