Nice Ladies | Ukraine! Film Festival

Nice Ladies directed by Mariia Ponomarova — documentary — Netherlands, Ukraine — 2024 — 92 min.

A group of Ukrainian cheerleaders in their 50s have been creating a unique community for years. The war, however, makes their lives separate.

Sveta leaves with her family to the Netherlands, while the captain of the team Valia and coach Nadia remain in Kharkov. Women try to keep in touch and maintain their friendship despite physical distancing, war trauma and guilt.

NICE LADIES is a warm but at the same time bitter story about friendship, solidarity, emigration and trying to maintain normalcy in times of war.
