About the event

(TICKETS FOR THE SHOW HAVE SOLD OUT)

The screening will take place as part of the POLITICAL FILM CLUB and with Polish subtitles.

The Political Film Club is a regularly held series of film screenings at the Amondo cinema, which combines politically aware cinema together with speeches by speakers and discussions in a political and informative spirit after the screenings. It is a space where vigor and passion for both political topics and cinema can find their outlet. Among the films there are less popular positions of such masters as Kubrick, Godard, Altman or Wajda.

The project is possible thanks to co-financing from the Polish Film Institute.

The film shows the decades-long legal battle of the people of Masafer Yatta in the West Bank over the preservation of their village. We see their everyday life, which is marked by injustice and humiliation. The Palestinian-Israeli film collective filmed the events in the village for five years, using previous recordings of residents. He recorded the film testimony of the many attempts to evict the villagers and the bloody acts of violence committed by the Israeli military and settlers. Adra — a lawyer and journalist who was born and raised in Masafer Yatta and Yuval Abraham — a Jewish journalist form a duo. Every day they try to help the residents of Masafer Yatta and tell the world about their tragedy. Their first meeting proved how different their situation is from each other, even though they live in the same country. Adra cannot move, is spied on, and his home is frequently searched by Israeli authorities. Yuval can drive around the country without hindrance and has complete freedom of action. The film does not propose ready-made solutions, becoming a very topical cry for equality.
