About the event

Sunday with Cinema Polonia

Are you curious about what is behind the scenes of Polish cinema? How were the first Polish productions born and where did the big screen stars come from? Would you like to recall the most famous films and return your memory to the series that the whole of Poland lived through? Or are you interested in festival awards, costumes, props or iconic movie posters?

If you answered “yes” to even one question, be sure to go with Arkadiusz Krystek for a Sunday adventure with the history of Polish cinema! During your tour of the Kino Polonia exhibition, you will not only hear more than 130 years of history of Polish cinematography — from pioneering beginnings to the present — but also anecdotes and curiosities that are talked about only behind the scenes. This is an opportunity to meet the real magic of cinema!

*At the end of the tour, it is possible to visit the Kino Polonia exhibition on your own until it closes.

Kino Polonia is the largest exhibition about Polish cinematography

On three floors and 1500 square meters there are hundreds of objects from the history of Polish cinematography: posters, cameras, projectors, costumes, props and production documents. An extraordinary set of souvenirs was collected, a huge number of films were acquired, dozens of video essays, film collages and mappings were created. Thanks to the efforts of the NCKF, the oldest device for displaying moving images has been reconstructed - a biopleograph, 100 iconic costumes from famous Polish films have been bought and renovated, and in the showcases, besides the most valuable prizes for domestic filmmakers, there will also be a place for cute little bears Misia Uszatka, who has been lulling children to sleep for several generations.
