A monumental masterpiece of silent cinema that portrays the eponymous intolerance and injustice at various points in history - from biblical times to the twentieth century.
In Intolerance, D. W. Griffith attempts to portray the disastrous effects of intolerance in human history through four parallel stories: the martyrdom of Christ, the night of St. Bartholomew, the fall of Babylon, and modern history (the conflict of labor and capital). The whole is a protest against various forms of despotism and injustice.
