Innocent wizards

“There must be boxing, there must be jazz, there must be a cool guy who has a scooter and meets cool girls, succeeds or fails and sometimes has reflections” - this is how the young Jerzy Skolimowski described the script of the film. He briefly explained to Wajda and Andrzejewski older than him what contemporary cinema about young people should look like.

Thus, in a country where the war dominated the screen all the time, a contemporary film was created, identical to what young French or English people told about.

During a night together, a sports doctor and a jazz musician, and a young girl we know little about, run the game, bantering and trying to get away from their own feelings. They hide under the mask of words and poses.

Environmental portrait of youth, drawn against the background of Warsaw at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s with music by Krzysztof Komeda.
