Library Night 2026

“The library (checks itself)” - this is the slogan of the 12th edition of the National Library Night, which will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026. The Municipal Public Library in Lublin traditionally participates in the action of celebrating reading and using library resources. For all lovers of literature, it is an opportunity to remind that libraries, as one of the most open and accessible cultural institutions, target their offers to people of all ages with diverse needs, being local centers of culture and education. Here's what Library Night events our branches have prepared this year:

18:00-20:00 - “Cinema in the base. Replica of the Lublin Film Festival” At the Night of Libraries we invite you to a screening of short family films made available by the organizers of the Lublin Film Festival. Before this happens together with the participants we will build a great base from blankets, as it was in childhood. It is worth bringing your own blankets, as well as snacks to eat while watching.

19:30-20:30 - “Songs that lead us” - unforgettable rock artists and their stories During the concert, 12 covers of songs belonging to the canon of rock music will sound. They will play: Łukasz Downar (bass guitar, effects, vocals), Maciej Krawczyk (electric guitar, effects, vocals) librarian, philosopher, amateur musician and music reviewer.

“Riddles after dark” Quest packs and a series of puzzles waiting at the next tables. The program includes tasks that require perceptiveness, logical thinking, knowledge and the cooperation of the whole family.

“What are stories made of?” After the game is over — it's time for creative fun with pasta and paints! A variety of pasta shapes, a little imagination and... more! Joint creation of original works of art and plenty of space for creativity.

18.00 - “Music plays with us” - the latest volume of poetry by Joanna Sierakowska. A journey in the footsteps of sounds, words and emotions accompanied by classical music.

16.00 - “My first ball... and this last Sunday” - a lecture by Grzegorz Sztal on the chic and elegance of the 20th anniversary of the interwar period, the soldier's drill and the rich setting that accompanied the great balls of the bohemian era

18.00-19.30 - “The Mystery of the Lost Manuscript” - a unique evening meeting for children full of riddles, searches and detective challenges.

The priceless manuscript of Czesław Miłosz was lost in the library! Together with the heroes of the series “Detectives from Primary School” by Alicja Sinicka, the participants will try to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of the manuscript. Young detectives will be waiting for clues, tasks and riddles that will bring them closer to solving the case.

Readcom Adult Reading Club Meeting for Library Night. We will discuss topics related to read/recommended books and remember Lublin from the times of the Polish People's Republic.

For this year's Library Night 2026, we invite all those who believe they are good at verifying information and debunking fake news to Biblio. We have prepared a complete library puzzle game, during which we will test your skills. We are looking for a maximum of four groups of detectives from the age of 10, necessarily with an adult assistant.
