We invite you to two events as part of the nationwide campaign “Library Night”, which will take place on October 16 (Friday) at the Maria Paulina Orsetti Public Library of Chełm (40 Partyzanów Street).
The second point of the program will be a monodrama performed by Krzysztof Grzesiuk “What the soul has in...”, which will begin at 1700 (ChBP performance hall).
Krzysztof Grzesiuk's monodrama “What the soul has in...” is inspired by Sophocles' “Antigone” and Janusz Głowacki's “Antigone in New York” and “The Last Chick”. The musical setting will be provided by Wojciech Machejus. The show takes the form of an artistic collage that draws motifs from the classics of ancient drama and great contemporary reinterpretations.
The play takes viewers on a symbolic journey through dark, existential locations, from New York's Tompkins Square Park, to Thebes, to the “Hell of the Musicians.” In the story layer, the show focuses on the confrontation of the individual with the soulless mechanism of power and the struggle of three excluded heroes (Anita, Pchełka and Antigone) against the symbolic forces of evil. The whole is intended to provoke the recipient to a deep self-reflection on the moral condition and the state of his own soul.
Krzysztof Grzesiuk, as he himself tells the person, is a mature man in retirement, who fills the time given to him with ordinary rural life and dramatic rehearsals. Creating tragicomic worlds, he places characters in them who struggle with problems as old as the world and already experienced and described many times by others. He is not a professional creator but indicates one of the possibilities of finding an activity when every day is Sunday.
