During this year's Library Night, we invite you to a special evening dedicated to Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz.

At 18:00 we invite you to “Witkacjana” — a small exhibition of memorabilia related to Witkacy, including manuscripts and selected materials from the Książnica collection. The exhibition will be accompanied by a story about the life, work and unusual personality of the artist.

At 19:00 we will move one floor below to the unusual live listening “Your Witkacjusz, Beloved Husband” — Witkacy's letters to his wife.

It is the story of a sixteen-year-old, far from conventional relationship of spouses — full of passion, everyday worries, humor, pain and creative madness. Witkacy emerges from the letters not only as an artist, but above all as a man — uncompromising, direct and surprisingly honest.

He does not shy away from intimate, sometimes obscene topics. With great creative energy, he faces the fear of material things, and his specific, sometimes masochistic sense of humor is intertwined with physical and mental suffering. The letters allow you to look behind the scenes of his everyday life and see a relationship that escapes simple definitions.

Witkacy's words will sound live, in a unique sound and musical setting.
