The third edition of the concert “Nordyckie Nourty” — a cooperation project of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow with the Jagiellonian Institute of German Studies and Nordic Studies, which has already become a Krakow tradition.
This year's program focuses on emotions and contrasts. The AMKP Symphony Design Orchestra under the baton of Prof. Maciej Tworek will perform monumental music by Gustav Holst — we will hear two parts of his Planeta suite, most reflecting the atmosphere of the whole work: full of the raw power of Mars and the elevated Jupiter. The first part of the legendary Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius will introduce the listeners to a completely different mood, in which Polish-Icelandic violinist Nikodem Frach will perform as soloist. The evening will be complemented by Icelandic vocal and instrumental music, reflecting the unique landscape of the island.
The full concert program will be published in the near future.
Project coordination: Maksymilian Frach, MSc
The project is under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of Iceland
