About the event

The music of Johann Strauss's son is considered pure entertainment. And rightly so. However, it is worth remembering that in his works almost the entire world that changed so intensively in the 19th century is reflected. Much has been written about non-musical content — social, political, national — and the importance of the waltz for the growing bourgeoisie. The activities of the artistic enterprise run by the Strauss family were also analyzed. However, the music itself is extremely interesting and simply brilliantly invented. “[...] Strauss is an artist,” wrote Hector Berlioz. “One cannot underestimate the influence he has had on the musical sense of the whole of Europe by introducing into the waltz the play of opposite rhythms, the effect of which is so piquant that the dancers themselves have already wanted to imitate him by creating the waltz. for two lanes, although the music of this dance retained the tripartite rhythm.” Let us also listen to the original orchestration, the original melodies, the intriguing harmony, let us always appreciate the perfect form. After all, under the word “waltz” is most often hidden a bundle of several rollers, preceded by an introduction in an even meter and ending with a code. These are dance poems for symphony orchestra lasting up to a dozen minutes! Strauss had a brilliant sense of proportion between the taste of the audience and the novelty of form and style, classical grace and romantic elation, seething energy and tender sigh. It is not surprising that this music still pleases today, although hardly anyone dances the waltz anymore.
