Rhythm in classical music has long played a purely servant role to the expression of a phrase or prosody of language. He often emphasized the danceable nature of the melody. In the 20th century, however, the influence of non-European cultures and the ubiquity of pop culture liberated this musical parameter from embarrassing dependencies. The moral revolution has also contributed to this, because rhythm is associated with the expression of the body and releases emotions that used to be hidden.
In the opening concert of our season, the chamber Trio per uno by Nebojša Jovan Živkovic will sweep us with energy from the first bars. The pulse of Steve Reich's Mallet Quartet will unleash the typical minimal music games of listening and memory; Mark Ford will follow in his composition Stubernic. In Mitos Brasileiros Neya Rosauro we will be carried away by mythical characters from the depths of the Amazon jungle to dance, and Andrew Beall's Rancho Jubilee for three drum boxes will bring the definitive liberation of pure rhythm.
