pl. Wojciecha Kilara 1, Katowice

The narrator of Eduard Tubin's Double Bass Concerto stands naturally in the center of the symphonic space. It's hard to miss. He speaks in a low voice, but let's not be fooled — there is nothing heavy about him. She can sing beautifully and give an excellent oratorical monologue. Above all, feverishly mocking and debating with an extravagant orchestra — not only about the modernist sharpness of rhythm and form, but also about romantic impulses and lyrical phrases.

About the event

The narrator of Eduard Tubin's Double Bass Concerto stands naturally in the center of the symphonic space. It's hard to miss. He speaks in a low voice, but let's not be fooled — there is nothing heavy about him. She can sing beautifully and give an excellent oratorical monologue. Above all, feverishly mocking and debating with an extravagant orchestra — not only about the modernist sharpness of rhythm and form, but also about romantic impulses and lyrical phrases.

The narrator of Aladdin Carl Nielsen is, in turn, a fairytale. About such a great fantasy that the ideas did not fit into the orchestral channel of the theater for which this music was created. So the composer turned it into an independent concert suite, entrusting the content of the story to the imagination of the listeners. Expressive gestures, stylized ornaments, suggestive dances and marches undoubtedly throw us into the middle of a busy crowd. Also to the market in Isfahan, where the hustle and bustle comes from all sides. Is anyone trying to sell a magic lamp?

Finally, Einojuhani Rautavaaryu's Cantus Arcticus offers almost the entire space to its unique narrators. It is de facto a concert featuring the most beautiful singing storytellers — trilling larks, migrating swans and other birds, whose sounds were immortalized, among other things, on the northern Arctic Circle. The cool space catches us not only from the recording, but also thanks to the simple, texturally simple orchestra. The composer entrusts one of the melodies directly to the listener. It's an invitation to wander together.

Sunday, a nature show, a debate and a fairy tale — such a morning does not have to be held exclusively in front of the television.
