Who reads “The Doll” today? And what emotions does it arouse today?
The debate around the new reading of “The Doll” will be about how the novel lives today — in popular culture, academic discussions, school discussions, but also everyday life.
What themes addressed in the novel, more than 130 years ago, as well as in the adaptations, contemporary and from the PRL period, are alive today? Does “Doll” actually provoke questions about power, identity and exclusion? And if so, what remains in the discussions about “The Doll” still undiscussed?
The conversation with the invited guests will be conducted by Julia Kunikowska.
