The emperor's new robes are a puppet show for young viewers, immersed in the world of soft fabrics, tangles of threads and intricate crochet weaves. In this visually rich setting, various forms of dolls come to life: Javanese, tintamareski, puppets, puppets and clappers, which tell a story of vanity, fear of ridicule and courage to remain oneself. Based on the timeless fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, the show speaks the language of image, movement and metaphor, telling the story of an emperor who is more interested in fashion than governing, and through his own pride falls prey to clever fraudsters.
About the event
In a world where it is increasingly difficult to distinguish truth from falsehood, and image often matters more than real value, important questions arise: Whom to believe? What is real and what is only well packaged? Is it worth following the crowd or is it better to trust your own judgment? Do we have the courage to say what we really think — even if we are the only ones who see it?
The play takes part in the XI Competition for the Staging of Old Works of Polish and European Literature “Living Classics”
