About the event

“Nowy Pan Tadeusz, samo że rapowy” is a performance in concert and musical formula, an act of vandalism on a national epic, an attempt to interpret the messenger text through the prism of Polish arrogance and pathology.

It turns out that the regular rhythm of the thirteen-speaker is the perfect material for rap. This will be revealed well known to the young audience... rapper Koza. Behind this pseudonym is Kamil Białaszek, studying directing at the Theater Academy in Warsaw.

The plot of the text is transferred to reality from the borderline of “Blockers” and “Boys from Barracks”, where rap and slang become natural means of expression. The director of the play examines his own small homeland — Raszyn near Warsaw — in search of the foundations of manic nationalism, which still remains the dominant ideology among the inhabitants of the suburbs and the so-called provinces. The creators of the show are looking for natural connections by comparing the reality of the blockhouses from the times just after the transformation with the backwater Lithuania described by Mickiewicz. Contemporary language mixes and dialogues with a thirteen-speaker, and archetypes from the borderline of Sarmatian nobility and suburban hooliganism are presented on stage.

Performance in concert and musical format — most of the standing seats.

The performance uses low-frequency sounds and high-frequency flashing light. If you are sensitive to this type of sound and lighting, please exercise extreme caution. Artists engage in direct interaction with the audience. The show tackles such themes as politics, violence, religion and addictions. Vulgar language is used.
