NT Live: Audience in Helios on Stage

The retransmission of the play returns to cinemas after more than a decade. Helen Mirren stars as Queen Elizabeth II in the Olivier and Tony Award-winning hit production directed by Stephen Daldry. For 60 years, Queen Elizabeth II held weekly, confidential meetings with each of the 12 prime ministers of the United Kingdom. Such a meeting is known as an audience. The Queen advised prime ministers, ranging from Winston Churchill, to Margaret Thatcher, to David Cameron, on public and personal matters. During private audiences, we can take a closer look at the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped the monarchy.
