When We Dead Awaken

Rubæk is a famous sculptor whose heyday is over. He lives comfortably with his young wife, but has lost his artistic power.

Then Irene? the woman who stood the model for his immortal masterpiece? returns, a destructive relationship marked by love, lust and power is reopened. She accuses him of taking her life force and turning it into art. He insists that she is the key to his inner images.

Henrik Ibsen's last drama 'When We Dead Awakens' is a sensual showdown about the price of art and the people it feeds on. Liv Helm's radical interpretation examines the role of the artist and its shadow sides.
