Nette and Boni

Wounded families, bodies and bakery bread are the subjects of this complex Marseille drama about 19-year-old kid Boni (Grégoire Colin) who is sought out one night by his 15-year-old sister Nenette (Alice Houri), who has run away from her boarding school. At first, Boni does not want her to stay, but when she reveals that she is seven months pregnant, he reluctantly accepts. Claire Denis ('Beau Travail'), one of French cinema's greatest names, describes with great authenticity and empathy the delicate situation of the already hard-tried siblings in an unsentimental but emotional film, the mood of which is further lifted by Tindersticks' catchy soundtrack.
