Nydonsk

Icelandic Nýdönsk celebrate 40th anniversary when they come to Bremen Theatre on Feb.

With four decades of music in its luggage, the Icelandic band has written itself into the music history of their homeland with melodies and lyrics that have become part of the soundtracks of generations. On 20 February 2027, Nýdösk can be experienced at the Bremen Theatre. The concert marks the beginning of the celebration of the band's 40th anniversary.

From Reykjavík and beyond Iceland's borders, over four decades Nýdösk has let the melodies find their own way. Some songs linger on the radio, others become part of the soundtrack for a lifetime. For Nýdönsk, the music has become both.

When Nýdösk was formed in 1987, the story of a band that was going to leave a distinct imprint on Icelandic pop music began. With vocalist Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson at the forefront, the group has over the years moved between pop, rock and jazzed elements, while the melodies and the Icelandic-language lyrics have been a common thread throughout the releases.

The anniversary year will be an occasion to celebrate the whole range of Nýdönek's work — from the well-known melodies to the more recent releases. On February 20, 2027, the audience can experience the band at Bremen Teater in Copenhagen, when the Icelandic musical tradition meets the concert audience on Danish grounds.
