Carlo and Elisa live in Rome, forming a seemingly successful relationship. He is a professor of philosophy at the university and a writer fighting the creative crisis. She, in turn, is a talented, brilliant journalist whose columns appear in international lifestyle magazines. Their relationship, which has lasted two decades, is creeping into more routine and distance. To regain their former energy, they decide to go to Morocco in the company of long-time friends: Anna and Paola and their thirteen-year-old daughter Vittoria — an intelligent, inquisitive and eccentric teenager. It turns out that they, too, are experiencing a serious crisis, which is most reflected on the girl. Vittoria, unable to get along with her parents, finds a foothold in Carlo, establishing a close bond with him. This is only the beginning of the problems to come.
