We invite you to Mikołajska 2 for a series of guided lectures accompanying the cycle of walks “Krakow round and round”.
About Krakow round the clock is a series of lectures given by our guides. An excellent option for people who want to get to know Krakow more deeply than the standard excursions offer. It is a combination of reliable historical knowledge with colorful anecdotes, given in the form of accessible in-person meetings.
The October guest will be Dr. Monika Widzicka, historian and ethnologist, museologist, curator of the exhibition on the urban audiosphere in Kraków. Sounds, melodies, words. He deals with 20th century cultural history, rock culture, sound studies and heritage interpretation. In getting to know the city, she is most intrigued by the interweaving of the past and the present. It invites you to listen to Krakow, which is both a practice of mindfulness and an exercise of imagination.
Dr. Monika Widzicka will give a lecture entitled “Sounds of long duration. Cracow bells and bells”.
The voices of the bells are sounds of long duration that accompany the inhabitants of Krakow despite the passing of decades and centuries. We will tell you about the oldest bells for centuries calling for prayer and announcing important events. We will introduce the language of bells rich in meaning and reflect on their role in the contemporary audiosphere of Krakow. We will pay attention to the Ludwisarian traditions and tell you where and when you can hear the oldest sounds of Krakow.
Admission is free. Meeting for adults.
