The initiator of the first theatrical scene in Bielsk was Franciszek Sułkowski (1733—1812) — 4th Duke of Bielsk, son of Alexander Joseph, former first minister of Saxony and favorite of King Augustus III Sas. When Francis inherited the Duchy of Bielsko in 1786, he made the decision to convert the unprofitable princely brewery into the temple of Talia and Melpomena. It was a small building located at the foot of the castle tower. Its interior was intimate, with a two-level auditorium illuminated by a chandelier and four lanterns. It was divided into a ground floor with nine rows of seating and two galleries. The stage had four curtains and universal scenographic equipment. In front of her was an orchestra with a device for a soufflé. The musical setting was provided by the court orchestra created by the prince. Unfortunately, the building burned down during the city fire in 1808. The Sułkowskis revived the princely theater twice more, more and more often made available to the townspeople, who staged their first stage.
