THURSDAY LUNCHES
Thursday lunches at the Palace of Immortality at 13 Krakowska Street are not only meetings at the table with good refreshments and drinks, but also inspiring lectures by outstanding personalities from the world of science, art, medicine, philosophy or religion. During a joint dinner, participants will be able to talk about the immortality of body, soul, mind with a guest specially invited for this occasion. The partner of the Thursday Lunches is the University Hospital in Krakow.
Thursday lunches are our meetings at the table referring to the famous meetings organized by King Stanisław August Poniatowski in the 18th century. They were usually held on Thursdays at the Royal Castle or in Łazienki, and were attended by the intellectual and artistic elite of the time — including Ignacy Krasicki, Hugo Kołłątaj, Stanisław Staszic and others. The aim of these lunches was to promote enlightenment, the development of science, art and literature in Poland. They could be considered as the Polish equivalent of the French literary salons — a place of conversations, debates and exchanges of ideas that had an impact on the reforms in the Republic of Poland.

“On falls and bankruptcies in medicine and art” — lecture by Prof. Marcin Mikos, PhD, UAFM
Since the beginning of time, we are falling! We fall physically and spiritually. Some persist in these falls without ever rising from them; for others, rising from the fall is one of the strongest motivators for life, development, and creativity.
Falls lead to tragedy, disability and suffering, but rising from them is the source of the true Élan vital!
Fall has inspired painters, sculptors and poets for centuries. Were it not for the mythological fall of Icarus, the greatest works of Bruegel or Rubens would not have been created. Without the fall, there would be no outstanding sculptures of angels by Miotoraj or Bellver, and Albert Camus would not have written an outstanding philosophical novel entitled “La chute”.
Falls change our lives and our history as if the fall from the horse of Queen Bona, whose health consequences led to the extinction of the entire Jagiellonian dynasty. Nowadays, we fall most often in homes, hospitals, on the street. It is not uncommon for a fall to be accompanied by words that prove the bankruptcy of our language.
Falls affect every age group; however, they have the most tragic effects among seniors. Not infrequently, the fall of an elderly person is a moment of breaking his life, social activity and independence.
Falls and their consequences can be effectively prevented, avoiding catastrophic consequences for life and health.
Thursday's lecture “On Falls and Bankruptcy” — will be devoted to this issue in art, history and medicine. The lecture will be given by the specialist in falls, Prof. Marcin Mikos, PhD, PhD, Ph.D., in the field of falls.
The fallen angel of gastronomy — Maciej Zamyslowski Chef at the iconic restaurant “19" in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, will take over the reins in the kitchen.
