About the event

Can water as a phenomenon inspire? Check out the audio-visual performance of the students of the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts organized in cooperation with the National Museum in Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Water Supply and Sewerage Infrastructure, which will take place on 30 October from 17.00 to 21.00. Admission is free.

In the underground raw space of the former reservoir, it will be possible to experience art in a unique way. Students of the Academy of Fine Arts from the F11 Scientific Circle prepared a diverse photographic and film exhibition, referring to the theme of water and the universal meanings associated with it. There you will find work in stop-motion animation based on color analysis and repetitive rhythmic structures, a video referring to water as a metaphor of mental states and subconscious, an audio installation based on the repetitive sound of a drop of water or a recording of a performance documenting the relationship between the movement of the human body and the plasticity of the liquid. There will also be works relating to socio-cultural contexts — photographic documentation on water resources and ecological reflection, photographic record of Upper Silesian fishing traditions or works reinterpreting myths and legends used to tame unknown phenomena hidden under the water mirror.

Karolina Bogucka and Anastazja Lapo, Michał Jankowski, Klaudia Furtyk and Maciej Maszczyk, Tadeusz Witkowski, Wiktoria Ram, Paweł Raro, Maria Daniluk and Weronika Kolęda, Tomasz Wyłomański and Natalia Wach participate in the project. The event is curated by Tomek Zerek from the Academy of Fine Arts and Waldemar Elewart from the National Museum in Gdańsk.

Admission is free, and due to the nature of the place and the performance, visitors will be allowed in groups of up to 20 people and guided by the creators of the works.
