What do the altar of Wit Stwosz, the woolen kilim, New York, mountain portki and... your grandmother have in common? Do you know where they used to buy things for home? Who designed and built them? And why couldn't you just buy what “the soul desires”?
During a family tour, we will look into the world of “Cepelia” — full of colors, patterns, fabrics and objects inspired by folk art. We will look for traces of traditional motifs and check how folk patterns found their way into apartments, shops and even world markets. We will not only look, but also touch and experience. The props prepared — wool, textiles and ceramics — will allow us to take a closer look at the materials from which everyday objects and works inspired by tradition were created. And finally, we will face a question that is not so simple at all: where does art end and kitsch begin? And who actually decides that?
Classes designed for children aged 6-10 years.
