DRY EYE. WILDNESS OF THE HEART — NEW YEAR'S EVE

On December 31, we invite you to a unique New Year's Eve night — together with the performance “OSIECKA. WILD HEART” directed by Lena Frankiewicz.

Today we would say about her that she lived “for the plot”.

After “Witkacym. Vaudeville on the brink”, “Bad. Warsaw Jazz Opera” and “Lalce '89” Theatre Rampa embarks on another musical journey through Warsaw and its legends. This time the heroine is Agnieszka Osiecka — poet, scandalist, icon. A woman whose songs are known to the whole of Poland, but whom we still do not know to the end.

In the play “Osiecka. The wildness of the heart” her biography becomes the starting point for the story of an artist who collected stories all her life to later turn them into texts. She is a seductive, witty heroine and has little in her from the monument to the romantic poet. The creators of the play — director Lena Frankiewicz and screenwriter Sandra Szwarc — take Osiecka on an original, unobvious journey through Warsaw. It is a musical road in which reality constantly mixes with imagination. There is something from the cinematic world of David Lynch: familiar places and characters are read anew, reality suddenly turns into absurdity, and under the seemingly ordinary story lurks something unobvious.

On this road, Osiecka is accompanied by Warsaw bohemia. The actors of Teatr Rampa play characters inspired by its representatives — artists, musicians, lovers and colourful personalities who created the artistic landscape of Warsaw for decades to come. They come and go. Together with Osiecka herself, they create a story about who she wanted to be and what kind of life she wanted to lead. Her Warsaw is a city danced, a little crazy and full of heroes that you can meet both on the big stage and at the table in the bar.

And all this is narrated with the help of these well-known (and less) well-known songs, such as “Małgośka”, “Okularnicy”, “Sing Sing” or “Zielono mi”, which thanks to the musical arrangements of Mariusz Obijalski will sound anew.

“Osiecka. Wildness of the Heart” is a spectacle for those who grew up on her songs, but also for those who just want to discover her. For those who remember Warsaw Osiecka, and for those who know it primarily from pop culture stories. For the spectators who came to the musical, and those attracted by the theater balancing between music, grotesque, cinematic imagination and rock'n'roll energy.

The performance is an artistic impression inspired by the life and work of Agnieszka Osiecka. The presented characters, events and dialogues constitute an autonomous poetic and dramatic creation of the creators.
