11.00—12.30 p.m. Part I: Discovering Your Own Meanings
13.00—15.00 Part II: Expressing meanings through works of art
The workshops are a development of a lecture by Jolanta Liczkowska-Czakyrowa from the series What Is Here Exhibited, referring to the exhibition The Word Embodied. During the lecture, we looked together at the process of building the human psyche from the experiences of the body and the process of giving meaning in situations where the difficult and unnamed cannot be conceived and remains trapped in the body in the form of a somatic symptom.
During the workshop, using various techniques, we will give a tangible form to the unnamed, we will experience the process of transformation and giving meanings.
Program:
1. Brief introduction: reference to the lecture
2. Body map
Plastic work on a large sheet of paper. Participants create a self-portrait, mapping with colors and an expressive line the places of physical tension (e.g., tightness in the throat, heaviness in the chest or shoulders) and describe the associations that accompany it (words, sensory sensations, etc.).
3. Structural invoice imprint
Action on the brought clothing without destroying the fabric. Putting the wardrobe items (seams, locks, collars) under the sheet, the participants use carbon and graphite to reproduce their structure by rubbing the paper. Connecting the concrete with the feeling.
4. Word weaving: network of associations
Choosing one word. Participants weave free thoughts around it, after which they physically weave the structure or form of the word from a thick cord. In the resulting web, they weave sheets with written associations, attaching the sculpture to their sheet.
5. Common table: representation and integration
Arrangement of all ready-made multi-layered works in the center of the hall (metaphor of a common table). The opportunity to tell about your feelings during the creation process.
Attention! Each participant brings one old or worn clothing.
The workshops are of an art therapeutic nature and are open to all interested - no artistic or manual skills are required.
Art materials (sheets, crayons, wires, strings, etc.) are provided by the organizer.
Event accompanying the exhibition “The Word Embodied”.
Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
