Janek (Filip Gurłacz) is a boy whose life did not give a chance for a carefree youth. Abandoned by his alcoholic father (Andrzej Mastalerz), he struggles to survive every day and takes care of his seriously ill mother (Maria Gładkowska). In order to get money for treatment and home maintenance, she makes increasingly risky decisions, falling into a spiral of problems, from which it is becoming increasingly difficult to get out. As the darkest clouds gather over his life, and the loss of everything seems inevitable, his father unexpectedly returns. The man who failed the hardest!
Is it possible to rebuild a relationship destroyed by years of pain, disappointment and absence? Can love survive even the worst wounds?
Recovered is a moving, emotional story about family, forgiveness and hope that can be reborn even in the most hopeless of circumstances. It's a story about a lost childhood, longing for closeness and fighting for a second chance before it's too late.

I watched. An inspiring film that goes beyond the typical “christian movie”. It is subtler and much better played, as can be seen in a very good scene of a priest's “confession” at AA or a conversation between father and son in the bathroom. One can see a different sensitivity than in Polish religious cinema looking at Protestant catechesis in the style of “God did not die”. After all, we have had enough of this look at the slick American “Christian movie”, which is tailored to their sensibilities. We have the traditions of Zanussi.

Recovered — Marcin Kwaśny's directorial debut — is a confession. A film presenting the values that the authors believe in and showing that transformation is possible — “recovering” oneself is possible. You just have to trust. There is a mystery in the ardent acting of Andrzej Mastalerz and Filip Gurłacz. It is worth taking it.
