An unmissable final performance at 180 Studios this year as we welcome the legendary Japanese improvisation collective Marginal Consort, their first London show in over 10 years. Founded in the late 1990s by Kazuo Imai, the quartet came together at the radical Bigakko art school in Tokyo, where they were taught by Fluxus composer Takehisa Kosugi. Since then, Marginal Consort has become one of the world’s most sought after experimental ensembles.
Renowned for their expansive, long-duration improvisations, Imai, Kei Shii, Masami Tada, and Tomonao Koshikawa will disperse across the Box and around the audience, deploying homemade instruments, electronics, and objects in an epic and immersive three-hour unfolding of sound.
