What is the religiosity of Polish Catholics today? Is Christianity primarily the heritage in which we are born, or is it the path by which we gradually become Christians? These questions will be the starting point for reflection during the national scientific conference “Are we born or become Christians? Who are the modern Polish Catholics?” The meeting will be an opportunity to look at contemporary Polish Catholicism from different perspectives. Issues of religious changes in Pomerania after World War II, the current landscape of Polish religiosity, the specificity of the religiosity of the inhabitants of West Pomerania and Gdańsk Pomerania, as well as questions about the relationship between church tradition and individual experience of faith will be discussed. The second part of the conference will focus on the question of how a person becomes a Christian. The questions of the accompaniment of faith, the conditions of Christian initiation and growth, and the importance of the liturgical year will be discussed.
