About the tour
Join us on a tour where we follow the trail of the color blue through the museum's vast art collection — from the 1400s to the 1940s.
Together with art dealer Signe Arnkvist, we take a closer look at how shades of blue can create everything from evocative seascapes to the heavenly glow around the Virgin Mary. Along the way, we also encounter works of art where the blue pigments have changed over time and now hide traces that only become visible when conservators and art historians look at the works under a microscope. And then a very special blue color plays a crucial role in unraveling an art historical mystery. It reveals when one of the works of art in European Art 1300-1800 was painted.
The tour takes place four times and the same artworks go again on each tour.
