On the shortest day of the year, the Glyptotek invites you to a special tour about the importance of light and sun in ancient Egypt.
The tour is free when the entrance to the museum is paid. Tour tickets cannot be pre-booked but will be picked up in the ticket sales on the day. Tickets are not issued for groups of more than five. Larger groups are referred to book a private tour.
The tour begins under the shade of palm trees in the Glyptotek conservatory, where thoughts are directed to the special light and capricious climate of the Mediterranean countries, before entering the Glyptotek's Egyptian collection. Get the story of the Balstyrian lion goddess Sakhmet's relationship with the sun god Ra, and learn about the sun god's importance and influence on the daily lives of ancient Egyptians.
