Operakino 26/27 - FEDORA from Genoa 2015

Russian princess Fedora Romanoff is engaged to Count Vladimir, who is murdered. Determined to avenge him, she tracks down the supposed killer, Count Loris Ipanov. Eventually, Fedora discovers that Loris was acting in self-defense because Vladimir was having an affair with Loris' wife. Fedora falls in love with Loris, but she has already passed information to the Russian authorities which leads to tragedy for Loris's family. When the truth comes out, she cannot live with her guilt and takes poison.
Starring Daniela Dessì as Fedora and Rubens Pelizzari as Count Loris Ipanov.
This is a staging of Umberto Giordano's veristic opera Fedora in a new production at the Teatro Carlo Felice. Director Rosetta Cucchi emphasized a modern, psychological reading of the work, in which the action is portrayed in part as the memoirs of Count Loris. Umberto Giordano is today best known for his opera Andrea Chénier.
