Operakino 26/27 - TRISTAN & ISOLDE from Dresden

It is a love tragedy about an impossible and all-consuming infatuation. Tristan and Isolde cannot live their love openly because Tristan is loyal to King Marke and Isolde married to King Marke. It is with stars such as Klaus Florian Vogt (Tristan), Camilla Nylund (Isolde), Christa Mayer (Brangäne), Georg Zeppenfeld (King Marke).
The opera is about desire, longing and the dissolution of the boundary between life and death. The opera was re-enacted in Marco Arturo Marelli's classic 1990s staging, conducted by Christian Thielemann one of the greatest Wagner conductors of the time. The opera is considered one of the strongest Wagner events in Dresden in recent times.
The Tristan chord is one of the most famous chords in the history of music. Already appearing in the first stanzas of Richard Wagner's opera Tristan and Isolde, it became a symbol of musical longing, excitement and unrequited desire.
