The Christmas Tale

Human children, your brothers. One is called poverty, the other is darkness. On their foreheads is engraved, O rich and wealthy people, your condemnation. Beware, people! Enlighten, educate and support your brothers, or woe to you! Woe!

A safer winter in the heart than outside the window. Ebenezer Scrooge is a rich man on whom much depends. This, as is well known, not a very sympathetic character. Though he himself has experienced poverty and humiliation, you will not find in him a penny of comfort. And we don't know if we'll make it to next Christmas. But our patience is running out. May the spirits of the past, present and future come to our aid. Let them remind Scrooge of the most essential qualities of the human species — the capacity for love, joy and innocence. Using Dickens's timeless tale, we ask whether one man's transformation is enough to save a community from the impending — and insufficiently understood — Apocalypse.
